Above the two doors of the upper church hang two Crucifixion frescoes by Turone di Maxio. The one on the counter-facade stands out for its vivid colours and elaborate composition.

Within a pointed lunette, known as a lancet, a group of red, ochre and blue angels surround the crucified Christ, while at the base of the same cross, embraced by a kneeling woman on the left, the Virgin Mary is supported by pious women; a knight, towering above them, leans forward with his sword towards Christ’s wounded side. On the right, a group of soldiers watch the scene, holding their spears. Delicate gold-painted floral carvings on the arch enhance the drama of the scene.
